IT IS SO GREAT TO BE BACK IN THE SWING OF THINGS

Southport Orchestra relished the opportunity to welcome back its regular supporters to its December 2021 Christmas concert after almost two years of inactivity due to the lockdown. Entitled “It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas” the ninety-minute programme featured a range of seasonal, relaxing, foot-tapping music to bring back memories of Christmases past and present. “Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire”, “Dance Of The Tumblers” and “Sleigh Ride” were amongst the items featuring in the programme with the Woodlands School Choir returning as the special guests to bring their own brand of Christmas music. Not surprisingly the all-time favourite “White Christmas” brought the programme to a fitting conclusion.

With the orchestra’s appetite to make music now wetted rehearsals will recommence early in January in preparation for their first concert for their 2022 season, scheduled for 26th March. Emmanuel Parish Church, Cambridge Road, Southport, will once again be the venue, chosen for its excellent acoustics and the opportunity for social distancing should this still be required.

A Happy New Year to all our friends and supporters!
