A very warm welcome to you from Southport Orchestra

We take our fun seriously!

      A Right Royal Occasion

Southport Orchestra contributed to the resort’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations on 9 th July with a concert packed with a wide variety of light classical music. Playing to a lively and responsive audience the programme featured no less than 16 separate items including Scottish Dances and a Westminster Waltz, The Big Country to excerpts from Gershwin, The Way You Look Tonight, The Princes Elizabeth Suite and of course Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance. The orchestra’s trumpeters also let their hair down with an enthusiastic rendition of Buglers’ Holiday! Special guest to the concert was the return of harpist Heather Stark who accompanied the orchestra whilst also presenting two stunning solo items.
Without doubt this was a most enjoyable evening of music for both the audience and players alike!

The final concert of the 2022 season will take place on 3 rd December. Emmanuel Parish Church, Cambridge Road, Southport PR9 9PR, with a starting time of 7-30 pm.
