A little bit about me.............................

I currently work at BAE Systems as a Software Engineer on the EuroFighter Typhoon aircraft having previously worked on the Trident submarines. My main qualification is a degree in Mathematics at Worcester College, Oxford.

My father was the local Inspector of Schools for Music and a church organist so I was encouraged to play an instrument. I took up the clarinet when a teenager and managed Grade 8 before going to university. I have played in various orchestras and wind bands before joining Southport Orchestra. I also play in a worship group at Christ Church on Lord St where I have performed a number of recitals as part of their Midweek Music series.

Who is your favourite composer?
This would be Walton. A few years ago my wife and I visited his home, La Mortella, on the island of Ischia in the Bay of Naples. We were fortunate to meet his wife Susana and enjoy the gardens she created.

How do you like to relax?
My wife and I enjoy long distance walking having completed in recent years the South Downs Way, Cotswold Way and Offa's Dyke. Abroad, I have achieved an ambition of climbing the Matterhorn and also climbed Mont Blanc and Mount Cook in New Zealand. I also enjoy gardening, photography and exploring my family tree - my great (x3) grandfather was wounded at the Battle of Waterloo.

What is your favourite food?
This is my own home made vanilla ice cream and cooking, especially baking, is one of my interests. I enjoy sharing the results with friends at my own Pudding Club evenings.
