Jane studied the flute at the Royal Northern College of Music with Kate Hill and Trevor Wye, and has played in masterclasses with Geoffrey Gilbert and William Bennett. She graduated in 1985 and moved to Preston in Guild Year, 1992, where she lives with her husband and two children. 

With several decades of teaching experience, she has a wide range of pupils from beginners to diploma students and travels around the Northwest and the Midlands, teaching at Keele and Manchester Metropolitan Universities; Wolverhampton Grammar School; Clitheroe Royal Grammar School and Cardinal Newman Sixth Form College, Preston.  

Jane has given solo recitals at Manchester's Whitworth Art Gallery and Royal Exchange Theatre, and at Liverpool's Central Library. She has also performed at St Georgeƃs Church, Preston and Bury Parish Church in their series of lunchtime concerts, and is a regular member of Preston Flute Group. She plays on an Oston-Brannen flute with an Ian McLauchlan headjoint.
