A little bit about me.............................

I have worked in the insurance industry (Life & Pensions) since finishing university. I started playing the clarinet, but later took up the bassoon with the thought that it would be easier to get into an orchestra. However, when at University I did revert back to clarinet in my final year. Since leaving university I have played in the music groups at the various churches I attended. I started again playing regularly in an orchestra when I moved to Kent in 1992, with Tonbridge Orchestra (and linked to the Tonbridge choral society). I did get the chance to play in a couple of other orchestras whilst living there, as well as to play in a joint concert with our counterparts in the German twin town of Heusenstamn.

I joined the Southport Orchestra a year or so after I had moved back to the North West.

Other interests

I used to run competitively for a couple of clubs (Sutton (St Helens) & Gloucester) in the 1980s & early 1990s. I once was selected to run for the Midland Counties against the North, South, Wales & Armed Forces in a half marathon. I did compete against a lot of big names on road, cross country & track, even once beat Steve Cram (in the English National Cross Country Championships). I still run, but mainly to keep fit. I enjoy watching Saints Rugby League, and other spare time moments (!) are spent gardening and walking.
