Joined Orchestra- 2015

Born in Stoke on Trent, I have lived in Cheshire, Lancashire and Northamptonshire and moved to Formby in 2013. I am married with two sons, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

I started to learn to play a brass instrument at the age of 7 and the Cello at 11. As an adult I played Euphonium with various Salvation Army bands until 1987.

I spent most of my working life in the automotive industry and held positions in Industrial Relations, Human Resources and General Management.

My hobbies include travel, caravanning and walking our two dogs on Formby beach.

Although my first love is still the euphonium, in 2010 I returned to playing after a 23 year break and played tenor trombone with a brass band made up of players who had all retired from work. Based in the village of Rothwell (Northants) "The Sixties Club Band" was a group of 50 musicians including a number  who had been members of the GUS Championship Band.

As well as playing with the Southport Orchestra regularly since 2015, I also enjoy playing bass trombone with a local brass band - the only issue being to remember which group of musicians I am playing with as the required styles are so different!!
